Entry #2: Finding Balance

Welcome everyone! In today's busy world, it's effortless to get caught up in endless to-do lists, deadlines, and never-ending scrolls on TikTok. We often forget one simple truth: our bodies need movement.  Staying active is crucial- not just for lowering the risks of illness,  but also for keeping our blood flowing and giving us those quick mental boosts we all need.

Finding balance in both worlds will improve your life in numerous ways. Even a short walk, a quick stretch, or a simple workout can clear the mind and increase energy. Other benefits include better sleep,  relieving anxiety and depression, and lower risks of heart disease and stroke. According to an article published by JAMA, it states, " approximately 110 000 deaths per year could be prevented if US adults aged 40 to 85 years increased their moderate-to-vigorous physical activity by 10 minutes per day." (Matthews, 2022, p.10). This shows how even small efforts can make a big difference-not only in our personal well-being but in overall public health.

Making time for movement doesn't require a huge lifestyle change. It's about finding balance and stepping away from screens, and remembering that our bodies were made to move.

  1. I think this was a great reminder to just slow down and relax. Alot of people need to hear this because like you said it's so easy to get caught up in a busy lifestyle. I loved how you used examples of how else we could spend our free time to help regulate our mind and lifestyle. Great blog entry!

  2. I always find it so hard for to find the right balance, but this entry really helped. I never really thought that just a short walk or stretch could be very beneficial for me. A statistic I liked was when you said 110,000 people in the U.S die per year that could have been easily prevented. That really hammered home the point of how taking care of our bodies is so important. I also loved how you by reminding us that our bodies were made to move. Great blog entry!

  3. I agree with the fact that prioritizing our bodies is important, especially when we are so caught up with our work.
